The Rainier Beach light rail station is situated in a quasi-isolated area of the line with the actual Beach area a little less than a mile to the East. At the station you can find some bike lockers and if you stroll through the neighborhood east along S Henderson St where you can find shops, deli’s, and other food choices. If you feel like a good walk the Kubota Garden is less than a mile and you can either go by street or by going South on the Chief Sealth Trail.

Kubota Gardens

Kubota Garden

Kubota Gardens located .89 miles east of the Rainier Beach Light Rail Station is one of Seattle’s most beautifully manicured landscapes. The Garden is 20 acres of green glens, beautiful plant life, Koi filled ponds all based on the Japanese style of gardening brought to us by the late Fujitaro Kubota. If you are looking for a light hike for a great picnic this is the place in South Seattle.
